Description for B&B:

What is a "mas"?

In Provence, a "mas" refers to a farmhouse. These houses are strategically positioned facing South to shield them from the Mistral, a strong wind that blows through the Rhône river valley. To adapt to the climate, "mas" have no openings on the North side and their doors and windows are narrow, providing protection from the intense heat in summer and the cold in winter. However, it's important to note that not all "mas" are farmhouses. The larger ones, typically constructed by the Bourgeois, are known as Bastides.

A "mas de ville" aims to recreate the charming ambiance of a farmhouse, offering guests a taste of rural Provençal living.
