Description for B&B:
Our chambres d'hôtes, a French Guesthouse, is situated in the charming market town of Felletin, just a quick 10-minute drive from Aubusson. Located in the La Creuse department, in the Limousin Region, our guesthouse is conveniently positioned halfway between Limoges and Clermont-Ferrand, making it an ideal base for exploring the Auvergne region, including La Mont Dore and the Puy-de-Dôme.The main house has been lovingly restored, preserving its original features and adorned with carefully chosen antique furniture. While primarily dating back to the 18th century (as evidenced by the 1761 carved fireplace in chambre 1), parts of the building may have even earlier origins, as it is constructed on the site of one of the four gates to the medieval fortified town.
We offer traditional French chambres d'hôtes with a touch of luxury, providing spacious and beautifully furnished ensuite rooms at reasonable prices. For guests seeking a culinary delight, we are delighted to offer delicious vegetarian evening meals.
The cost for a one-night stay in either Chambre 1 or 2, accommodating up to two people, is 50 Euros. Chambre 3 can be used as an apartment, featuring a kitchen and a large bathroom with a full-sized bath and rain-shower. The rate for Chambre 3 is 60 Euros with the kitchen or 50 Euros without.
Extra beds can be added to the rooms for an additional charge of 10 Euros per bed per night. A delightful breakfast is available at a rate of 6 Euros per person. For those interested in indulging in our vegetarian evening meals, the cost is 20 Euros per person for a three-course meal, including cheese and coffee.
Felletin serves as the gateway to the plateau de Millevaches and is surrounded by picturesque countryside, forests, and lakes. La Creuse is a fantastic destination for hikers, cyclists, anglers, and photographers who appreciate its year-round beauty. Felletin itself offers plenty to see, including stunning churches and other architectural gems, without the need to venture far.
The water in Felletin is sourced from natural springs, providing a chemical-free and refreshing experience straight from the mountains. This water contributes to the delightful flavor of Fellis, a beer brewed in a microbrewery in town.
The town hosts a vibrant market every Friday, and during winter, there is a Christmas market. In the summer months, visitors can enjoy a world music and dance festival. Other festivities and special "journées" include a book festival (journée du livre), a beer festival (fête de la bière), and the fête de Felletin.
The town square and its quaint cobbled streets offer a variety of amenities, including cafes, bars, restaurants, bakeries, pastry shops, two well-stocked and reasonably priced supermarkets, banks, gift shops, and a tourist information office. A larger supermarket is also within walking distance on the outskirts of town.
The churches in Felletin are architectural gems worth exploring, and the town boasts other hidden delights, such as a former diamond processing plant. Felletin is renowned for its tapestry, just like its neighbor Aubusson. Visitors have the opportunity to visit the famous Pinton factory, where the world-famous tapestry depicting Christ in Coventry Cathedral was produced. For those searching for chambres d'hôtes in Aubusson, we recommend trying 3 Place des Arbres, located just 10 kilometers away. Our luxury guesthouse provides the perfect accommodation for your stay.
The river Creuse flows by Felletin, offering idyllic evenings spent on its banks, savoring a glass of champagne and enjoying locally produced cheese on delicious French bread.
La Creuse is a truly wonderful destination to explore, not only offering the best of the Limousin region but also bordering the Auvergne. Within just an hour's drive, you can reach the breathtaking Puy de Dome, an area that is certainly worth a visit. Prepare to be captivated by its stunning beauty.
