Description for B&B:
The De Battisti family constructed this house in the late 17th century, making it the only Patrician-style residence in the district at the time. Throughout the centuries, it attracted numerous notable individuals, including Count De Boissieux, Count de Marbeuf, Viscount de Barin, and Sir Gilbert Elliot, the viceroy of Corsica.During the 19th century, the house was transformed into a luxurious hotel, hosting esteemed guests like Gustave de Flaubert, Joseph Multedo, the Duc of Orleans, and Prosper Mérimée. After the closure of the hotel, this magnificent place fell into disrepair and remained abandoned for many years.
Today, our family has meticulously restored and converted the house into a guest house known as A Casa Reale. It offers a serene sanctuary in the heart of the city. Guests can enjoy a spacious terrace with stunning views of the sea and nearby dock, a 70 square meter living room with an impressive bookshelf, a cozy relaxation area for television viewing or games, and a grand piano from a Prussian factory dating back to 1904, which was originally gifted to Belgian King Leopold.
Every effort has been made to carefully rehabilitate the house while preserving its authenticity and capturing the soul and style of the old patrician residence. The selection of craftsmen and materials was done with great care, including handmade terracotta tiles, meticulous restoration of moldings by a master plasterer, and the use of century-old cement tiles. The result is a harmonious blend of modern and antique furniture, creating a picturesque and unique atmosphere.
