Description for B&B:
The Manoir de Malagorse is located in the picturesque countryside of the Lot, just outside the small village of Rignac. Nearby, the charming medieval village of Martel offers a delightful selection of restaurants and shops, only a 10-minute drive away. This makes the Manoir an ideal base for exploring both the Dordogne Valley, with its famous attractions such as Sarlat, Domme, and Chateau de Beynac, as well as the historic sites of the Lot, including Rocamadour, Gouffre de Padirac, and Carennac.Inside the Manoir, guests will find a bright and inviting atmosphere, filled with furniture and objects that the owners, Anna and Abel, have discovered at local Brocante markets. The kitchen, which serves as the heart of the house, features a handmade immense cooking range and a huge farmhouse table for hosting memorable evenings when outdoor dining is not possible.
Breakfast at the Manoir is a sumptuous affair, with fresh juice, fruit, homemade yogurts and musli, freshly baked croissants and brioche, homemade jams, and aromatic coffees and teas. Dinner is a four-course meal served in the courtyard, weather permitting. Anna takes great pride in setting a delightful table with crisp antique linen, fresh flowers, and plenty of candles. Abel, on the other hand, focuses on creating dishes using the freshest produce and light aromatic flavors with a hint of Provence. The extensive à la carte wine list and carefully selected regional wines perfectly complement each meal.
The Manoir offers five individually designed bedrooms, each thoughtfully decorated with sumptuous French fabrics and locally sourced furnishings. Guests can choose from rooms of varying sizes and character, all providing the comforts of home, including fresh garden flowers, crisp white bedlinen, fluffy bathrobes, and luxurious toiletries from Coté Bastide.
In addition to the main house, there is also the option to stay in the Four à Pain, the original bakery for the domaine, which features original features such as a huge vaulted oven and antique terracotta tiles. The Manoir is set in 3 hectares of peaceful countryside, offering stunning views. Guests can relax by the swimming pool in the large meadow, surrounded by comfortable teak sunbeds. The elevated terrace with teak furniture provides a perfect spot for enjoying afternoon tea or an early aperitif.
For those seeking outdoor activities, there are plenty of options available nearby. Canoeing down the Dordogne River is a popular choice, offering the chance to explore historic sites and enjoy the surrounding scenery. Anna and Abel can even provide a gastronomic picnic to make the experience even more enjoyable. The region is also rich in historical sites and natural beauty, with attractions such as Chateau Castelnaud, Beynac, Les Grottes de Cazelle, and Gouffre de Padirac. The medieval towns of Sarlat and Domme can be visited on a scenic route around the valley of the Dordogne, passing by the impressive Chateau de Montfort. The famous village of Rocamadour, built into the cliffside, is a must-see, as well as the charming villages of Carennac, Floriac, and Creysse. Garden enthusiasts will delight in visiting Les Jardins du Manoir d'Eyrignac, Les Jardins du Chateau de Marqueyssac, Les Jardins de l'Imaginaire in Terrasson, and Les Jardins du Chateau de Hautefort. Wine lovers can seek advice from Abel on which vineyards to visit in Cahor, or he can even arrange a private tour.
For families, there are attractions such as the animal park at Gramat or the prehistoric park in Rocamadour, both highly recommended by the owners' children, Inés and Louis. Visitors can always rely on the advice and guidance of the owners to make the most of their stay and explore the region to the fullest.
