Located in the picturesque countryside near the Padrela mountains in Carrazedo de Montenegro, the Quinta dAlagoa spans 70 hectares (approximately 170 acres) of enchanting farmland and woodland. The primary crops cultivated on this land are chestnuts, olives, and vines.

All of the produce grown on the farm is organic and has been certified by SOCERT, the Portuguese Organic Quality Control entity. Nestled amidst the fields and forests, the farm buildings hold significant historical and cultural value, showcasing exquisite rustic architecture.

The old farmhouse, laborers' lodgings, barn, and other outbuildings have been meticulously restored and transformed into a haven for agrotourism. The farm proudly belongs to TER (Turismo no Espaço Rural – Rural Tourism Association).

The heart of this expansive estate lies within the farm buildings, which have been proposed for listing due to their historical and cultural significance. The Casa dos Moços, Casa das Mulheres, Coberto da Nora, and Casa do Caseiro - the seasonal laborers' housing - exemplify traditional rustic architecture and offer a glimpse into the daily lives of the past.

The Lagar do Azeite and Lagar do Vinho have been lovingly restored and are fully functional, preserving their original components. The Casa da Quinta boasts six double bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Additionally, the stable has been transformed into a spacious meeting and gathering room suitable for large groups.

In addition to the primary crops of vineyards spanning 3 hectares (approximately 7 acres), olive groves spanning 16 hectares (approximately 40 acres), and chestnut trees covering 23 hectares (approximately 57 acres), Quinta D'Alagoa also cultivates vegetables, maintains orchards, and boasts 10 hectares (approximately 25 acres) of water meadows known as Lameiro. The property is further adorned with oak, poplar, and pine woods.

Since adopting organic farming practices in 2001, the farm has been certified by SOCERT, ensuring compliance with Portuguese Organic Quality Control standards. No artificial chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides are used, and the cattle are solely fed natural fodder.

Situated within the farm's boundaries are an extensive network of trails spanning nearly 15 kilometres. These paths traverse through fields, pastures, and woods, offering the choice to walk or cycle (reservation needed) and soon, ride on horseback (available from next summer). As you venture along these routes, you will encounter farmland, grazing fields, chestnut groves, and even dense forests. Quinta D'Alagoa also extends the invitation to partake in mountain bike excursions, both within the farm and beyond, allowing you to visit surrounding villages and admire remarkable national heritage monuments.
