Description:

Description for B&B:

ENVIRONMENT, VIEW, AND NEIGHBORHOOD: The cottage is located in a peaceful countryside hamlet at the edge of a wood, with only fifteen inhabitants. It's not uncommon to spot deer or wild boar in the garden, if you're lucky enough. There are no neighboring houses, providing an unobstructed view of the beautiful countryside. Although the cottage is attached to the owners' house, it has a separate entrance, ensuring complete independence.

INDOOR AND OUTDOOR FEATURES: The cottage is warm and inviting, with a spacious main living room measuring 30 square meters and boasting a 4-meter ceiling. It includes a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area with a gas hob, oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, and washing machine. A large bay window opens onto a covered south-facing balcony measuring 6 square meters. The living area is overlooked by a mezzanine under the roof, which is furnished like a cozy dorm. The mezzanine has two beds, one measuring 120 cm and another measuring 140 cm. The beds are partitioned with hard seals and blackout curtains, and there is also a large 2-square-meter closet. Additionally, the mezzanine houses a spacious bathroom with a shower, sink, toilet, and another decent-sized closet. WiFi access is available, and if needed, we can provide a changing table, a cot, and a high chair. Please note that sheets and towels are not provided, and pets are accepted under certain conditions.

LOCATION AND NEARBY CITIES: The cottage is just a 5-minute drive from the center of Lavelanet. It is also conveniently located near several cities and attractions, such as Montségur (13 km), Mirepoix (18 km), Camon (20 km), Foix (25 km), Tarascon (35 km), Pamiers (45 km), Carcassonne (60 km), St Girons, St Lizier, and the Cathar castles, medieval towns, and prehistoric sites that can be found within a few minutes' drive. Additionally, the valleys of Couserans and Vicdessos are just an hour away, as well as Andorra, the sea, and Spain, which can be reached in an hour and a half.

ACTIVITIES AND RECREATION: The Ariège region offers a wide range of activities for everyone. Enjoy water sports such as canoeing, canyoning, rafting, and hydro speed, or explore the area through hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and swimming in water bodies, rivers, and mountain lakes. There are also opportunities for tree climbing and skiing at the Olmes Mountains ski resort, which is open in the summer for downhill mountain biking, zip-lining, archery, and climbing. Discover natural wonders like the underground river of Bouiche, Lake Montbel, the Frau gorges, Plateau de Beille, altitude lakes, and Luzenac talc quarry park with bamboo. Visit Fontestorbes intermittent fountain, an exciting tree climbing site, and the Bélesta forest. Explore prehistoric caves such as Niaux, Cow, Lombrives, Bédeilhac, and Maz d'Azil, or immerse yourself in history by visiting the cave church of Vals, abbeys, cathedrals, Romanesque churches, villages, and Cathar castles (there are 19 Cathar castles nearby, including Montsegur, Roquefixade, Puivert, Quéribus, Peyrepertuse, and Puilaurens). Don't miss out on experiencing the charm of Mirepoix with its historic center and covered fifteenth-century market, or exploring Foix with its medieval castle. The city of Carcassonne is also worth a visit, and you can participate in festivals, medieval days, night shows, and outdoor events. There are several museums to explore, including Forges de Pyrene, Textile, Horn Comb, Hunting and Nature, and Old Trades. For animal lovers, there are farms to visit, such as those with bison, llamas, reptiles, ostriches, butterflies, and wolves. Indulge in the local gastronomy, including farm products, foie gras, confits, mountain charcuterie, and cheeses. There are plenty of activities to satisfy both young and old.

SERVICES AND SHOPS: Lavelanet, a town with a population of 6,500, offers all the necessary amenities for everyday life, including banks, a post office, a pharmacy, various shops, a cinema, supermarkets, and discount stores. Medical, dental, laboratory, emergency, Social Security, and veterinary services are also available.
