Dar Al Bahar, appropriately named as "the house by the sea," is situated on the city ramparts of Essaouira in the charming "San Dion" area. With its prime location facing the ocean and its invigorating trade winds, the house offers an unparalleled view from its terrace. From here, one can witness the captivating display of winds crashing against the coastal rocks. Additionally, the terrace provides a panoramic vista encompassing the medina, including the ancient Scala's northern fort and the Mellah, the former Jewish quarter. On the horizon, the sand dunes come into view, reaching the outskirts of the city.

Originally constructed at the turn of the previous century, this house has been meticulously renovated by Jean-Claude and Lise, a French-Dutch couple. In the past, this area of Essaouira buzzed with activity, thanks to the presence of an authentic windmill - now in ruins - which once supplied flour to the city and surrounding areas. The street, Touahen, still bears the same name, meaning "mill" in Arabic.

Today, the tranquility of Dar Al Bahar remains undisturbed, save for the crashing waves and the calls of seagulls.
